This little store opened in Black River Falls in 1912, when Edward Locken opened his shoe store in this space.

The shop remained a shoe store and bootery for decades. New owners opened Merchant General Store, using the word "Merchant" in the name as a nod to the original shoe store owner.

Much of the original shop still exists in this historic building. It still has original floors, counters and shelving.

The tin ceiling is also original from 1912.

The store still has its original cash register from 1912.

The Merchant General Store has a great collection of vintage tins and bottles.

Everything about this little shop takes you back to the turn of the 20th century.

The store offers lots of unique home decor items.
