Donny’s Glidden Lodge is about 15 minutes from downtown Sturgeon Bay, near the small unincorporated community of Valmy. It’s close to spectacular outdoor attractions like Cave Point and Whitefish Dunes State Park.
The real draw, though, is the food. Because this place is so popular, you’ll want to make reservations well in advance – on many nights, it’s booked solid.
If you sample the food, you’ll know why. The menu includes upscale surf and turf fare, including steaks that are hand cut and aged to perfection, in house.
The restaurant also has some tasty seafood options, including blackened yellowfin tuna, pan-fried walleye, and jumbo shrimp. Enjoy each bite, along with your view of the water.
The bar is beautiful, and it serves up a great selection of wine and all the classic Wisconsin cocktails, including a hand-muddled old fashioned and a wonderful cherry mule.
Donny’s Glidden Lodge is open daily, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. While it’s a little out of the way, it’s well worth the drive – just ask a local. On Wednesdays, it also serves a popular German meal that draws great reviews. Once you’ve experienced the Glidden, here are some more classic Wisconsin supper clubs you should visit – be sure to arrive hungry!
