These 10 Awesome Farms And Orchards Are Hiding In Wisconsin That You Need To Visit This Fall
Nothing says fall like a visit to a farm or orchard. Luckily, we’ve got tons here in Wisconsin. And since each offers its own mix of activities and amenities, there really is something for everyone. Whether you want to pick the perfect pumpkin or simply sip on some apple cider, you’re covered. In fact, there are so many options that it’d be easy to miss a few. So, just to make sure that doesn’t happen, we put together a list of some can’t-miss farms and orchards around the state.
You’ll find something for everyone at this Burlington orchard, which boasts more than 150 varieties of apples. Kids can take in the expansive views from atop a 2-story treehouse, while adults will want to check out the on-site winery, AeppelTreow. While at Brightonwoods, don’t forget to stop by the Apple Barn, where you can stock up on homemade jams, treats, and freshly-picked apples, of course.
An orchard with an on-site market, this Mukwonago favorite is most known as being home of The Best Gourmet Apple Pie in America; however that’s not all it has going for it. The fall season brings a lot of fun to the orchard — and it comes in the form of the Autumn Harvest Festival, which takes place every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. September 12th thru October 25th. Fun for all ages, the festivities include u-pick apples, pony rides, hay rides, a corn maze, and more.
Though not technically an orchard, this Egg Harbor shop offers all the tasty perks of one. And fall is an especially good time to visit since the market is surrounded by colorful foliage and stocked with seasonal favorites, including apples in an array of varieties. The tasty selection also includes a plethora of goodies made with Door County cherries, including everything from donuts and strudel to salsa and more.
Fall just wouldn’t be complete without one (or a few) of Erickson Orchard’s signature apple cider donuts. In addition to filling up on donuts, fall visitors can peruse the hoards of gourds and other farm fresh goodies that fill the on-site market. Another option is to head out to the orchard’s u-pick field.
Like something from a rural dream, it’s almost hard to believe this charming old-fashioned orchard is just a short drive from Madison. But it is — and definitely worth taking advantage of! In addition to u-pick (or selv plukk as it's known as at Eplegaarden) apples, raspberries, and pumpkins, visitors can indulge on an array of apple-based treats, including fresh cider, caramel apples, and apple cider donuts.
Waldvogel’s has been a fall favorite for more than 30 years! And its popularity probably has something to do with the fact that it has more than 60 attractions for visitors to enjoy, including the state’s largest pumpkin patch. Other perks include an 8-acre corn maze, haunted house, and train ride.
For quintessential fall fun, Schuster’s Farm doesn’t disappoint. An 8-acre corn maze, wagon ride, and pumpkin patch are just the beginning of the farm’s perks. Offering something for all ages, there are also dozens of attractions in the barnyard, a haunted forest, fresh apple cider donuts, and more. Remember, the fall season runs from September 19th to November 1st.
If you’re a fan of corn mazes, Treinen Farm shouldn’t be missed — it’s home to one of the nation’s best. But navigating your way through a challenging maze isn’t the only option for fun at Treinen. There’s also a pumpkin patch, hay rides, pumpkin slingshot, playground, pedal carts, nightly bonfires, and more.
As charming as it sounds, Apple Holler is sure to become a seasonal favorite. Visit in the fall, and you can head out to the orchard to pick a variety of apples. In addition to apple-picking, you can do a little shopping (and snacking) at the Orchard Market and Cider and Bakery Barn.
This Colgate farm offers fun throughout the seasons; however, there’s no time like the fall to visit since it hosts not one — but two — charming fests. The first is the Apple and Sunflower Festival , which is scheduled for September 11th to 13th. Next up is the Pumpkin Festival. Running from September 19th thru October 31st, Pumpkin Festival attendees can enjoy a pick-your-own pumpkin patch, hay ride, 8-acre corn maze, and more than 65 fun fall activities. Shopping is also an option since the farm carries a variety of seasonal décor, including corn stalks, straw bales, pumpkins in all shapes and sizes, and more.
