A Visit To This One Of A Kind Camel Farm In Wisconsin Is An Absolute Blast

Stoneboat Farms in Door County, Wisconsin, offers unique animal encounters with rare Bactrian camels and other exotic animals.

Wisconsin isn't the first place people think of when they think of rare, unique and exotic animals, but as an area known for farming and livestock, adding in more unusual animals isn't exactly a stretch. With plenty of open farmland and people experienced with raising animals, Wisconsin is a natural location for an exotic animal farm. Up in Sister Bay, you'll find a family-owned farm where the owners started with llamas but quickly found that they had the room — and love — to welcome all kinds of interesting animals. They quickly added Bactrian camels to their menagerie and now they're one of the coolest possible places you could visit in Wisconsin. Stoneboat Farms in Door County is a special, licensed spot where you can get up close and personal with some gorgeous, wonderful and unique animals.

Please note, Stoneboat Farms is no longer in business.

If you thought the only exotic animals you could see in Wisconsin were from afar at the zoo, you couldn't be more wrong. There are a couple of places here where you can get up close and personal with unique animals, but Stoneboat Farm Exotics up in Door County is especially unique.

That's because this cool little family-owned farm is home to Bactrian Camels — there are only about 800 of them in the entire country and Stoneboat Farm even has some rare white Bactrians.

Stoneboat raises and cares for the animals here themselves and they are USDA Class C Licensed. They even work as a place to rehab animals that need extra care. This is truly a labor of love for the owners.

Most everything they do here is by appointment, but they are ready and waiting for your call about scheduling a camel encounter, which includes interaction with all the animals on this farm for just $20 a person. You can even schedule a photo shoot. Imagine how cool your holiday cards could be!

The camels are incredibly friendly and fun and you'll never forget this totally unique, one-of-a-kind experience.

We tend to think of camels thriving in deserts and very hot climates, but the animals are very adaptable and they love the cooler summers, with the breeze off Lake Michigan and they love playing in the snow in the winter.

Don't forget to pick up some camel milk soaps and bath bombs before you leave so you can support this farm and relive your spectacular experience again and again.

Stoneboat Farms is located at 9511 Townline Dr., Sister Bay, WI 54234. They offer a number of animal encounter experiences and you can find out more about all of them on their website. Check out more adorable animal pictures on their Facebook page, as well.
