Stewarts Original Hot Dogs is a Huntington, West Virginia institution. Opened in 1932 as a root beer and popcorn stand, Stewarts has changed much in some ways from its earliest days. However, other things haven’t changed one bit. The restaurant is still bright orange. It still serves some of the best root beer in town. And, in 1933, when Stewarts added hot dogs to the menu, the restaurant served the dogs with a chili sauce that was so good, the recipe has been handed down as-is for four generations.
