Winter is here, and along with the cold, snowy weather comes some seasonably appropriate and delightful new ways to play in the Mountain State that are impossible in the warmer months of the year. Yes, snowtubing, we’re looking at you.
Are you always on the lookout for fun ways to stay active through the winter months? It can be a challenge, but thankfully, living in West Virginia makes it easier.
The Mountain State offers so many winter sports options, from hiking to skiing to ice-skating. But perhaps one of the simplest, most fun pastimes you can opt for this winter in West Virginia is snowtubing.
And what better spot to snowtube this year than at Winterplace Ski Resort, which boasts the largest snowtubing park in the whole state. With up to 15 groomed lanes, if snow conditions are right, Winterplace offers plenty of room to spread out and have fun.
Snowtubing hours at Winterplace are from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m starting in late December. Advanced online ticket purchases are highly recommended, as walk-up tickets may be limited. Tubers must be 44 inches or taller to participate.
Winterplace Ski Resort is managed jointly with The Resort At Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia. After a full day of playing in the snow, head over to the resort to enjoy good food, a fun activity center, and comfortable overnight accommodations!
Winterplace itself is located at 100 Old Flat Top Mountain Rd in Ghent. You can learn more about them on Facebook or purchase tickets on their website. What other fun activities help you pass the time during the long West Virginia winter?
