Savannah's Restaurant in Huntington may not look like a restaurant at first. It is actually a Victorian house built in 1903. But this unusual location gives the restaurant a certain charm and elegance. It began life as a family home, and later became both a boarding house and a doctor's office before becoming a restaurant in 1996.
During the warmer months, the restaurant offers patio dining, surrounded by plants and flowers to accentuate the beauty and enjoyment of having a meal outside.
Chief among them is the Wine Spectator award, which the restaurant has won every year since 1999, which accounts for 18 of its 23 years in business. They also received the Unique Distinction Award from Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
The food itself is seasonal and varies from year to year. Regardless of the selection change, Savannah's never fails to delight your tastebuds. Each meal is complemented by the pairing of the perfect wine. This selection of chicken Florentine is prepared with mushrooms, carrots and broccoli, accompanied by a mild cream sauce.
Even some of the more traditional selections, like this steak and shrimp, are particularly scrumptious. The restaurant also offers a selection of salads, soups, entrees and desserts. For its amazing food, the restaurant received the Five Diamond Award of Excellence from the North American Restaurant Association.
In 2002, the business expanded when the owners purchased and remodeled the building next door, which they named Savannah's Bistro. The bistro contains the Magnolia Room, which is designated specifically for catering events. The atmosphere of the bistro offers a more casual atmosphere than its sister restaurant.
Savannah's Restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The Bistro opens at 5:00 p.m. on the same days. Savannah's is located at 1208 Sixth Avenue in Huntington. Their phone number is 304-529-0919.
