The Rustic Underground Tavern And Restaurant In West Virginia You Can’t Pass Up
Some eateries lend themselves to a positively unforgettable experience. From the food to the service and the atmosphere, when all three are working in harmony, then you’ve found a spot you’ll likely return to again and again. Drover’s Inn Restaurant and Tavern is one of those rare establishments you simply won’t be able to pass up.
It's located in a circa 1848 inn built for travelers and 'drovers' who not only needed a place to spend the night, but also field their livestock.
Today, the inn still welcomes visitors, but only to dine. The three-story historic structure has four distinct dining rooms that fill the entirety of the former inn.
Up until the late 1960s, this space was merely a coal and fruit cellar and was not as deep as it is now. It was made deeper and expanded beneath the building to accommodate the now popular tavern.
When you visit, be sure to order the wings, either as an appetizer or a meal. They pair nicely with the beers on tap and this cozy tavern's rustic atmosphere!
Drover’s Inn Restaurant and Tavern is located at 1001 Washington Pike, Wellsburg, WV 26070. It’s open Wednesday through Saturday from 5:00 p.m to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Learn more from the official website!
