This Secluded Camp Creek State Park Cabin Is Only Accessible Via A 3.3 Mile Hike In West Virginia

Camp Creek State Park in West Virginia offers a remote, off-grid cabin experience accessible only by a 3.3-mile hike.

The West Virginia State Park system is phenomenal. The variety of activities they offer, the variety of natural wonders they caretake, the variety of historical time periods they feature - it's an impressive spread. And this veritable banquet is largely free! That's why, when we're traveling around the state, we often choose to take advantage of another incredible feature (albeit not free) provided by the state park system: lodging.

West Virginia's Camp Creek State Park and Forest is a wild, wonderful spot in the heart of Appalachia. It's located north of Princeton, West Virginia, not far from Interstate 77.

With multiple waterfalls and swimming holes, numerous hiking trails, a playground, and more, it's a wonderful spot to spend a few days reconnecting with nature. And what better way to do that than with a stay in one of the two Camp Creek State Park campgrounds?

Well, as good as the campground options are, they are no longer your only choice when it comes to lodging at Camp Creek State Park.

Now, you can also opt for an overnight stay in the remote, secluded Ranger Outpost Cabin.

How remote? How secluded? Here's how: it's only accessible by a 3.3 mile hike.

Basically, you backpack in to this shelter with all the gear you need for the night, and then backpack out when you're done with your stay.

The cabin features a studio-style interior with four bunk-style beds and a loft with a twin bed. There's a cooking grate, fire ring, picnic table, and portable bathroom in the cabin's yard.

That's what there is - here's what there's not: electricity, a kitchen, water, food, lights, bedding, or plumbing. Bring your own!

Have you backpack camped at Camp Creek's Ranger Outpost Cabin yet? Would you, given the opportunity?

If your answer is "Yes! I would love to try this off-grid adventure!" then check into reserving this unique, rustic, remote cabin at the West Virginia State Parks website here. And for more on what else there is to do at Camp Creek State Park to complement your stay in the Ranger Cabin, head here.
