West Virginia's many rustic camping spots all provide primitive getaways far from the reaches of our everyday woes. But there's at least one rustic campground that goes a step further. Nestled just off scenic Route 50 approximately 25 miles northeast of Davis, lies a heavily forested campground with nearly a full mile of waterfront access on a picturesque valley stream.
If you've never heard of Abrams Creek Campground and Retreat Center, then you're not alone. It's the sort of secret people like to keep all to themselves, if you know what we mean.
The campground is located along Abrams Creek, where you can camp, rent a primitive cabin — or spend the night in an authentic tipi.
Many of the cozy cabins and camp sites are located right on the banks of the scenic creek.
It's the sort of magical place where you can reconnect with nature and soak in the solitude.
The tent and camper sites are all carved right into the flora of this natural setting. Imagine waking to the sounds of the gurgling creek next to your tent!
Whether you have a waterside site or not, there is ample access to the picturesque Abrams Creek.
Swimming holes are aplenty, so bring a float and some sunscreen and prepare to enjoy!
Multiple primitive cabins, tipis, campsites, and a lodge/hostel make this an ideal place to steal away for a rustic weekend all to yourself. You may even decide to leave your cell phone in the car!
