We're gearing up for another Washington summer... which, as we all know, will fly by in the blink of an eye. Work, wedding season, and other commitments keep many of us busy, but hopefully every Washingtonian has time for a vacation or two before fall. And if you only have time for one local adventure this summer, pack your bags (and maybe your tent) and head for the Olympic Peninsula.
First, there are all kinds of events on the peninsula in the summertime you won't want to miss.
The Sequim Lavender Festival is July 15-17, and the Port Townsend Acoustic Blues Festival is August 5-6, for starters.
And if you're lucky, you might experience a warm, sunny day at the beautiful beaches.
The Hoh Rainforest provides a nice, cool respite from a warm summer day.
And you owe it to yourself to see the Hoh, no matter what time of year it is.
And then there's the fact that in some places, you can camp right on the beach.
This is Second Beach, and it's amazing.
Summer is the only time when all the hiking trails are accessible and snow-free.
This is the view from Hurricane Ridge on a hot July day.
There's truly nothing like summertime on the peninsula.
There are countless attractions and natural wonders to see... and the sunsets are otherworldly.
There's so much to see on the peninsula, it's hard to know where to start. If you need a little guidance, check out our waterfalls-themed road trip.
