For The Ultimate Winter Hike In Washington, Head To The Quartz Mountain Lookout
Hiking season doesn’t always end when the weather cools down in Washington… in fact, you’ll find plenty of locals who prefer to hike through the cold winter air and trek through the fresh snow (possibly in show shoes). For a moderately challenging and positively breathtaking seasonal hike, head to Eastern Washington and check out the Quartz Mountain Lookout Trail.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

This part of the state is sometimes overlooked by hikers, especially in the winter.

Check the weather forecast and reports before you go to make sure the trail is accessible.

Trekking through the snow here feels downright magical. Just make sure to bring snow shoes if you want to go the distance.

You can actually reserve the fire lookout and spend the night in the summer months. But this time of year, it serves mostly as a trail marker.

As you can imagine, both the sunrises and sunsets from the summit are phenomenal.

We can all agree that an experience like this is something we can use right now.
