9 Places In Washington That Are Better Than Anywhere Else In The Country
Do you ever visit a place and just smile, knowing that there’s nowhere else you’d rather be in that moment? Washington is full of those spots, and these 9 are especially amazing to experience firsthand.
1. Mt. Rainier National Park
The majestic Mt. Rainier is our crowning glory, and the park is full of incredible hiking trails and other outdoor adventures, not to mention incredible views.
2. The San Juan Islands
From the charming little towns to the rural landscapes and waterfront parks, there's no place on Earth quite like the San Juans... and we're incredibly lucky that they're a part of our state.
3. The Palouse
One of the best things about the state of Washington is its diversity. For those who prefer rolling hills and calming wheat fields to mountains and ocean views, the Palouse is a little piece of paradise. There's nothing like a hot summer here.
It doesn't matter when you visit -- there's always something going on in our beautiful Bavarian village, and it always feels like you've entered another world.
Sequim is always amazing, but during lavender season, it's one of the best looking (and smelling!) places on the planet.
6. The Columbia River Gorge
This scenic canyon is one of the most amazing (and underrated) parts of our state. From the charming towns on the river banks to the incredible scenery at Beacon Rock State Park, there's always an adventure waiting here.
7. The Walla Walla Valley
You don't have to love wine or fruit to appreciate Walla Walla, although it doesn't hurt. There's something serene and peaceful about this valley, which occupies a distinct and geographically unique part of the state.
8. North Cascades National Park
When you're exploring the North Cascades, it's easy to forget that any other place in the world exists. And when you're there, you're very much OK with that.
9. The Hoh Rainforest
Add this to the list of reasons why Washington is the best: We've got one of the largest temperate rainforests in the world. Do yourself the favor of exploring it at least once.
We know these places are so incredible, we’re not even going to ask if you agree. Who wouldn’t? What we do want to know is…what would you add to the list?
