Washington has some of the most scenic drives in the entire country. There’s one route in particular that we love to recommend: The Mount Baker Scenic Byway. Although it’s only a 57-mile drive, you’ll want to allow plenty of time to stop and explore. The Mount Baker Scenic Byway runs northeast from Bellingham to Artist Point, and it's the only road to reach the Mount Baker Ski Area. During the summer months, the highway is fully open and takes you to plenty of hiking trails and outdoor adventures. But you don't have to leave the car to enjoy this scenic drive; the route winds past the banks of the Nooksack River, old-growth forests, waterfalls, and small logging communities. It's definitely a must for all Washingtonians!
