The Timeless Washington Restaurant Everyone Needs To Visit At Least Once
If you hail from Central Washington or you played on sports teams as a child, you’ve almost certainly heard of Miner’s Drive-In in Yakima. Known for their oversized burgers, big, thick shakes and fast-casual setting, they’ve been a staple in Union Gap for decades. And while opinions on the food Miner’s serves varies, the majority of people who try it tend to love it.
Miner’s Drive-In opened in 1948.
The founder, Ed Miner, wanted the burgers to be "a meal on a bun." That explains the large portions.
Over the years, this little burger joint became a favorite stop for local young athletes.
There’s ample space in the parking lot for busses, so the hungry youth can almost always count on a Miner’s stop.
You’ll find more than burgers on the menu here….
… but the giant burgers are highly recommended.
You probably won’t be able to finish your meal if you get onion rings or fries, but we recommend getting them anyway. They’re worth it.
Nothing is pre-cooked at Miner’s.
There’s even a sign in the lobby reminding patrons of that in case they get impatient while they wait.
If you’re wondering whether or not you have room for a shake, just get one.
There’s always room for a delicious Miner’s milkshake.
A word of caution: Nothing served here is small.
Other than the prices being adjusted for inflation, not much has changed about Miner's since 1948.
It remains a timeless treasure in the Yakima Valley.
