This Little-Known Medieval Village In Washington Will Take You Straight to the 1300s

Camlann Medieval Village in Carnation, Washington, offers an authentic medieval experience with festivals, period costumes, and a unique dining experience.

There's not much to the small town of Carnation... but we can give you one pretty amazing reason to go. Many Washingtonians aren't aware that Camlann Medieval Village exists, offering a glimpse into English history like you've never seen it before.

Camlann Medieval Village is a living history museum designed to recreate rural life in England in 1376.

It's run by the Camlann Medieval Association, who strives to makes it as authentic as possible.

The village is open on weekends from May - September.

The standard days here are low key, with characters dressed in period costumes and exhibits to explore. But when there's a big event or festival, the entire village celebrates.

On festival days, you can expect to find fun for the whole family -- puppeteers and magicians, armed knights, food and other fun.

There are five festivals total, beginning in May. Admission is $10, but young children are free.

One of the highlights of the village is the Bors Hede Inne, where you can enjoy an authentic medieval dinner experience.

The restaurant is the only part of the village that's open all year, from Wednesday - Sunday for dinner only. You can only pay by cash or check, and phone and camera use is prohibited.

History buffs love the Camlann Medieval Village, and it's a must-see for all Washingtonians.

Mark your calendars for May and check out this authentic ode to the past.
