Does anything signify summer quite like bright, beautiful sunflowers? Here in Virginia, you'll find all kinds of picturesque sunflower fields to roam. And for something truly festive, you can mark your calendar for the upcoming Beaver Dam Sunflower Festival. Slated for September, this festival will entail everything you love about warm weather in Virginia: lovely flowers, fun activities, delicious food, and simply being outside. Here's more on the annual Beaver Dam Sunflower Festival, gearing up for its best year yet.
Welcome to Beaver Dam Sunflower Farm! Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this breathtaking farm is the setting of the annual Sunflower Festival.
Although details are still being coordinated, the event is scheduled to take place from September 10 - 19, 2021.
Be sure to check the website as more details become available.
So what can you expect at the Beaver Dam Sunflower Festival? Lots and lots of flowers! Half a million of them, to be exact. Exploring the 20-acre working farm, you'll cultivate a newfound appreciation for all that goes into sunflower maintenance.
These beauties, which aren't planted until July, bloom mid-September for the most stunning spectacle. And while the sunflowers are beautiful to look at, they serve a purpose too. Sunflower seeds are harvested and sold to local vendors throughout Virginia.
In addition to live music and games, there are all kinds of other festivities that take place during the festival. It's particularly fun to shop from local food and craft vendors. Handmade kettle corn, anyone?
Special events like a sunset dinner on the farm and goat yoga have been offered in past years. It's not been confirmed whether or not these events will be taking place again in 2021. So be sure to follow along on Facebook for all the exciting updates!
If you have a special love of sunflowers, you'll be delighted to see just how many flower-themed items there are to choose from.
There's even a selected patch of sunflowers where festival-goers can pick their own stems for $2 each.
Kindly note that it's prohibited to pick sunflowers without tickets and outside of festival hours.
After spending a perfect day amidst the mountains, flowers, and local vendors, you'll have to agree that Virginia is for Sunflower Lovers!
