You're never too old to use your imagination, explore, and learn. This sentiment couldn't ring truer at the Virginia Living Museum, an incredible resource in Newport News that invites visitors of all ages to interact with exhibits and animals in the most unique way. One such example is the interactive dinosaur trail. These dinosaurs might only be alive in one's imagination, but the colorful and lifesize displays will make the experience of walking among dinosaurs feel almost real!
Located just 20 minutes from Williamsburg, the Virginia Living Museum in Newport News is a treasure trove of displays, activities, learning opportunities, and adventures for visitors of all ages.
Perhaps one of the most beloved attractions of all is the Dinosaur Trail, which opened in 2016 as a permanent exhibit.
As visitors walk through the forest, they'll be delighted to discover no less than 16 dinosaurs who once roamed the Earth 150 million years ago.
It won't be difficult to imagine an encounter with a real dinosaur, considering the fact that many of the displays are full-size!
The dinos on display are those that existed between the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Whether you're a paleo novice or an expert, you'll be positively delighted by the interactive opportunities. Who knows... some of the majestic creatures might even begin to walk alongside you!
This "Walking T-Rex" event happens on select dates throughout the year at 1 p.m. in the afternoon. You can click here to find out more!
In addition to the 16 dinosaur displays, visitors will also encounter dinosaur nests, baby dinosaurs, a Paleo Camp, and even displays of authentic dinosaur fossils. How cool is that?
So prepare to be amazed and don't forget to bring your camera as you and your family step back in time and walk among the dinosaurs.
