Shenandoah National Park is easily one of the most popular attractions in Virginia, and it's no mystery why. This linear park spans miles upon miles of breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountain views to be admired at every turn. For this reason, it can be a bit overwhelming to plan a quick visit to the park. Fortunately, we have just the remedy. There's a 1-mile loop within the park that showcases some of its best scenery, and it promises to be a real crowd-pleaser. Here's everything you can look forward to when you hike the Bearfence Mountain Trail.
If you find yourself in Shenandoah National Park with time for just one trail, Bearfence Mountain would be a great option.
This relatively short hike promises 360-degree views of the park, and the journey is just as rewarding as the destination.
As mentioned before, this trail is shorter than many others in the park, but that shouldn't fool you.
The last stretch of the trail requires what can only be described as some scrambling. It's not uncommon to use all fours to safely summit to the top of Bearfence.
Of course, everyone who completes the trail agrees that the last bit of rock scrambling is worth it when you encounter these never-ending mountain views!
Experiencing this view at sunrise or sunset can make the experience all the more memorable. Hikers should note that the trail becomes considerably more crowded as the day goes on.
So if you're looking for an authentic adventure in Shenandoah National Park, it truly doesn't get much better than the adventure and scenery promised by Bearfence Mountain.
