There’s No Attraction In The World Quite Like This One In Vermont
The Vermont Country store has been offering top quality goods since 1947, and is still run by the same family who are now 8th generation Vermonters! You’ll love browsing the stores but, if you can’t make it here, they sell it all and more online making it a one stop shop for all your holiday needs. With 100% satisfaction guaranteed and a customer bill of rights in place, this is the kind of place you’ll never want to leave. And we can’t really blame you!

It is well known as a place where you can find unique items, everyday needs, a family business, where to find delicious foods and a wonderful selection of Vermont made products.

Visits and press such as Martha Stewart to CBS have come to the store - and the Orton Brothers went teach Martha a thing or two in the kitchen making Maple Mountain Crunch Cake on the Martha Stewart Show!

And the best part is that all the exhibits are for sale!

In the words of proprietor Lyman Orton… “My commitment to finding you practical, hard to find merchandise and to superior customer service remains absolutely unshakable. Everything you see in our catalogs, in our on-line store, and in our retail stores is 100% guaranteed to work like we say it will.
If you don't find this so, or are dissatisfied for any reason at all, you can return or exchange your product with no hassles or fuss. We've done business in this straight forward way ever since 1946.
Sincerely,
Lyman Orton, Prop.”

In 1897, Gardner Lyman Orton, the 8th generation of Ortons in the United States, opened a general store with his father-in-law Melvin Teachout in Calais, Vermont. Gardner's wife Leila gave birth to their eldest son Vrest that same year. Pictured is the interior of the store in 1946.
