Fall has arrived and the leaves are turning throughout the great state of Vermont. One of the quintessential things we love to do on fall days is to head to our favorite apple orchard for some good old fashioned picking. You’ll have delicious apples picked off the tree to make all kinds of tasty treats, but more importantly, you’ll have memories that last a lifetime.
1. Hackett's Orchard, South Hero
When the skies are blue in South Hero, it's a perfect day for apple picking. Apples, cider donuts, cider, vegetables, pumpkins, bakery and much more at this charming stop.
2. Liberty Orchard, Brookfield
Grab a wagon and fill it up with fresh and delicious apples. The kids love the special dwarf trees that are easy to pick for the little ones.
3. Happy Valley Orchard, Middlebury
This picture perfect apple orchard has over 70 varieties as well as a cider mill. You'll also find delicious squash, pumpkins and corn at the Happy Valley Orchard.
4. Mad Tom Orchard, East Dorset
This little orchard with big views gets picked out pretty quickly so check the website before heading over. Bring your camera!
5. Northcourt Orchard, Franklin
Making this orchard a little sweeter are the cider, honey, apple cider doughnuts and VT maple syrup.
6. Sadie's Apple Orchard, Georgia
You can pick you own or grab a bag of pre-picked apples at Sadie's. Enjoy the 22 varieties of fall apples but note that they are open weekends only!
7. Shelburne Orchards, Shelburne
One of the most picturesque orchards in all of Vermont, Shelburne Orchards is packed with pleasure. Lots of picking, wagon rides and a great farm stand with piles of pumpkins make it as beautiful as it is delicious.
8. Wellwood Orchards, Springfield
Pick your own strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, peaches and apples are available at Wellwood. There is also a country store with Vermont products and a great little petting zoo!
9. Sunrise Orchards, Cornwall
Sunrise sells wholesale apples and direct-to-store deliveries, but this picture was so amazing we had to include it here.
10. Green Mountain Orchards, Putney
This pick your own orchard in Southern Vermont has apples, blueberries, peaches, pumpkins, and more. Don't miss the cider jelly!
11. Adams Apple Orchard & Farm Market, Williston
Adams Orchards specialized in local produce, specialty food products, flowers, pies, crafts and even apple cider slushies. They are open daily and the pick your own apple orchard is open until mid-October.
12. Burtt's Apple Orchard, Cabot
Can't decide which is your favorite? Pick a few of each! Here you'll find McIntosh, Cortland, Empire, Northern Spy, Macoun, Honeycrisp and other apples, along with fresh cider, pies, and their very own maple syrup.

14. Connecticut Valley Orchard, Westminster Station
The Connecticut Valley Orchard was established in 1912 and boasts all the staples of a New England apple orchard.
15. Champlain Orchards, Shoreham
This ecologically managed orchard offers 107 varieties of apples, peaches, pears, plums, nectarines, berries, cherries, all available for pick your own. To round out your experience, grab some cider, pies and other products along with local dry goods in the farm market.
16. Chapin Orchard, Essex Junction
Mums and pumpkins and cider - oh my! The pick your own apples are available every day and boy are they good!
