The Historic Eagle Building In Utah Is The New Home Of Caffe Molise
Since 1993, Caffe Molise has been the place to go when you’re looking for delicious Italian food in a beautiful setting. In 2018, the restaurant moved to its new home in the historic Eagle Building, and if you haven’t visited since the move, you’ve got to go soon.
The Eagle Building was completed in 1916, and was constructed for the Fraternal Order of Eagles. It sits on the corner of 4th South and West Temple in Salt Lake City.
You can still see the eagle that's perched in the middle second-story window.
The building changed hands a few times over the decades. The American Legion occupied it from 1941 to 1950, when Equitable Life Insurance Company resided there from 1950 to the mid-1980s, and The Bay renovated the building in 1990.
If you've lived in Utah for very long, you probably remember The Bay, a popular dance club that was a vibrant part of Salt Lake's nightlife for more than 20 years.
It closed several years ago, and the building was vacant again.
In 2018, Caffe Molise took up residence in The Eagle Building, and the space was transformed into a beautiful restaurant. You'll find a blend of new modern fixtures and historic architectural details in the dining room.
The outdoor patio is the place to dine when the weather's warm.
The food at Caffe Molise is just as amazing as it's always been. You'll start with a crisp salad that's full of flavor, and some tasty rolls.
You'll want to indulge in an appetizer here. The Pomodori e Mozzarella is a favorite. It consists of ripe, sliced Roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, drizzled with an extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar reduction.
The dinner menu is full of authentic pasta dishes. You'll find traditional items like lasagna and ravioli, as well as lighter dishes tossed with fresh vegetables and olive oil.
Piatti entrees include flavorful chicken, beef tenderloin, oven-roasted pork tenderloin, fish, and more.
Dessert is definitely a must at Caffe Molise. The tiramisu is the house specialty, but you can't go wrong with any of the decadent offerings.
Visit Caffe Molise Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday until 10 p.m.; Sunday until 8 p.m.
