According to Airbnb’s list of places to visit in 2020, Milwaukee is the #1 destination in the world.
Other cities on the list include: Sunbury (Australia), Tokyo (Japan), and Cape Canaveral (Florida).
The rankings are based on each city’s growth in annual bookings. Milwaukee has seen a whopping 729% increase in bookings!
What’s even more impressive is when you consider the difference between Milwaukee’s increase and the increase in bookings in Bilbao in Spain, which took 2nd place with a 402% increase.
When you learn everything Milwaukee has to offer, it’s clear that the city is worthy of its recent recognition.
Milwaukee boasts historic sites and museums, cultural attractions, opportunities for outdoor recreation, and an enviable restaurant and bar scene.
The city’s bevy of museums makes it easy to learn about everything from history to art.
As one of the best natural history museums in the U.S., Milwaukee Public Museum is a great choice when in the city.
The Milwaukee Public Museum isn’t the city’s only top-rated museum, though. There’s also the Milwaukee Art Museum, which is one of the largest museums in the nation.
The gigantic collection includes nearly 25,000 works of art!
But it’s not just the museums that are bragworthy. Milwaukee has a burgeoning food and bar scene, which includes MKE’s Smallest Bar.
Aptly named, it’s a tiny, alleyway bar that’s sure to make a big impression.
And with eateries like Ian’s Pizza, foodies definitely won’t be disappointed in Milwaukee.
Putting a new twist on the classic dish, Ian’s Pizza is known for serving up creative pies, such as its signature mac ‘n cheese pizza.
It’s not just restaurants where you’ll find great food, though. Milwaukee hosts a slew of ethnic festivals throughout the year.
Milwaukee’s German Fest, Festa Italiana, and Irish Fest are actually the largest festivals of their kind in the U.S.
In addition to some of the nation’s largest festivals, Milwaukee also hosts one of the world’s largest music festivals – Summerfest.
The annual event, which began in 1968, attracts 900,000 people a year!
Outdoor fun in Milwaukee doesn’t just pertain to fests, though. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the great outdoors right in the city, such as Seven Bridges Park.
Offering the perfect escape – complete with enchanting surroundings - the forested park features a hiking trail, lake, bridges, and more.
