Chippewa Falls is probably best known for the Leinenkugel Brewery and thanks to the brand's commercials, it may have made the town's name a bit more famous. But with just about 13,000 folks, it's really just a small town with a lumber and railroad background, and a coolness factor that's undeniable.
With more than 400 nearby lakes, a strategic location on the Chippewa River and plenty to see and do, Chippewa Falls is a great location for a day trip or weekend getaway. Nearly as old as the state itself, Chippewa Falls is an awesome mix of old and new that you simply don't want to miss.
Chippewa Falls, located about 10 miles northeast of Eau Claire on beautiful Lake Wissota, is on the outskirts of the Northwoods. It mixes the fun and relaxation of "up north" with a more modern, city vibe.
Everything here just exudes charm, from the quaint downtown streets to the family-owned businesses and restaurants. You'll never run out of things to do in Chippewa Falls.
Enjoy boating and fishing on beautiful Lake Wissota.
Or head to Loopy's to rent an innertube and venture out for a lazy afternoon floating down the Chippewa River.
Wisconsin is one of the best states in the country for converting old railroad tracks to public trails and the Old Abe State Trail is no exception. It is a paved 19.5 mile trail connecting Lake Wissota State Park in Chippewa Falls and Brunet Island State Park in Cornell. This old railroad grade has been developed into a trail for bicyclists, snowmobilers, hikers, horseback riders and in-line skaters.
In the winter, Irvine Park turns into a Winter Wonderland you won't want to miss.
When it's too cold outside to hike, take your athletic self indoors back at Loopy's where you can play beach volleyball in their dome year-round.
If relaxing is more your thing, River Bend Winery and Distillery offer delectable drinks in a breathtaking, gorgeous location.
Though it's now a national name in brewing, Leinenkugel's has never forgotten its Wisconsin roots. Take a tour or visit the Leinie Lodge. You've never tasted a more delicious Honey or Berry Weiss than one that comes direct from the source.
Finish up your day with some sweets at Chippewa Candy Store, one of the delightful, charming shops in downtown.
You can never go wrong with Olson's ice cream. In Chippewa Falls since 1921 and their current location since 1941, Olson's is a part of the fabric of Chippewa Falls and you'll never be sad you stopped for one of their creamy cones.
Awesome activities, delicious food, a beautiful location and something to entertain everyone are why Chippewa Falls is truly the coolest town.
