Wisconsin in the fall is the time for leaf-peeping, and you’ve got to drive the Chequamegon Nicolet National Forest Loop, which leads to some of the most stunning fall colors in Wisconsin. Take a look at this fall foliage drive in Wisconsin:
One of six color tours in the Hayward Lakes area, the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest Loop spans 70 miles and will take about 1.5 hours to complete.
It’s one of the area’s longest color tours, so the colorful vistas are plentiful.
Begin your foliage-inspired journey at the Hayward Information Center. The route is marked with numbered signs, which feature a distinctive leaf design, so you’ll know you’re on the right track.
A majority of the trek is on paved roads, making for an easy, comfortable drive.
Of course, the views are so incredible that the road conditions will be the last thing on your mind.
As the name implies, the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest Loop passes through the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, resulting in peaceful seclusion and loads of breathtaking foliage.
Namekagon River, O'Brien Hill, Perch Lake, and a tunnel of hardwoods are just a few of the sights you’ll see along the way - in addition to lots of colorful leaves, of course.
But it’s not just gorgeous foliage you’ll find on the route.
Hayward is a popular fall vacation spot, so accommodations and eateries are nearly as abundant as the vibrant foliage.
This means you can easily turn your day drive into an overnight adventure or mini-vacay.
