Step Inside The Quaint West Virginia Town With Only One Traffic Light

Glenville, WV, a small town with the only traffic light in Gilmer County, offers historic buildings, local eateries, and community events.

There are certainly many West Virginia towns with one traffic light, or without a traffic light at all, but there's something interesting about Glenville, West Virginia... it has the only traffic light in Gilmer County. This small town of just over 1000 people still manages to have plenty to see.

Glenville, WV grew up around the boat traffic from the Little Kanawha River.

The town is filled with historic buildings.

This is Job's Temple, a Methodist church built between 1860 and 1866.

The Little Kanawha Valley Bank was built in 1901, and used this building until 1916.

Built in 1907, the Gilmer County Poor Farm Infirmary served needy families.

The Gilmer County courthouse was built in 1923.

This is the John E. Arbuckle House, built in 1910.

More than a century after these places were built, the town still has just one traffic light.

It's the only one in the county! But don't worry, there's still plenty to do in Glenville.

Glenville State College is an integral part of the town, providing education for students and events for the community.

The public library has a spot for Pokemon fans.

Smoke House BBQ has amazing sandwiches and meals.

The Family Ice Cream Shop has great cones and authentic WV hot dogs.
