Take A Day Trip To This Farm Distillery In Washington For Some Spirited Relaxation

The Lazy River Farm in Kent offers unique, award-winning fruit-based spirits made from sustainably grown produce.

The Lazy River Farm is a working, sustainable six acre farm on the Green River in Kent. Peaceful and picturesque, it's a great place to spend an afternoon -- especially if you happen to like spirits. They create some fantastic libations here, and you're more than welcome to stop by and sample them.

The Lazy River Farm is owned by Larry and Linda Person, who were always curious about winemaking before deciding to delve into the distillery world instead.

Together with their nephew, David O’Neal, they turned their hobby farm into a distilling business.

The family started the process in 2010, not long after a craft distillery movement started in the Pacific Northwest.

But while most businesses began making vodka, Sidetrack focused on fruit-based spirits instead, setting them apart from everyone else.

Sidetrack Distillery now makes 12 different spirits, ranging from fruit liqueurs to Eau De Vie and speciality spirits.

You're guaranteed to find something here you've never tried before.

The best part is, everything used to flavor the spirits is grown on the farm with no added pesticides or artificial colors and flavors.

As the website states, the team is dedicated to the idea that a spirit should capture the essence of the produce from which it is crafted.

The liqueurs are sweetened with beet sugar (and yes, that's grown on the farm as well) and filtered five times.

This leads to a cleaner product and a better (not too syrupy) flavor.

Ready to try these unique spirits? Just visit the farm and step into the tasting room.

It's always open from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturdays, but you're welcome to taste during the week as long as you make an appointment.

While you're there, make sure to explore the beautiful farm.

You can even host your private event or wedding here.

The Kent Valley is a bit off the beaten path for most Washingtonians, but it's well worth going out of your way to visit the farm.

Sidetrack Distillery’s spirits have won quite a few awards, so don't expect to leave empty-handed.

You can learn more about Sidetrack Distillery's spirits (and plan your farm visit) on their website. And if you're more of a beer drinker, check out Washington's farm brewery as well.
