A Drive Down Washington’s Loneliest Highway Will Take You Miles And Miles Away From It All

Washington is home to over seven million people (and counting), but that doesn't mean you can't find some secluded spots. In fact, there are still some remote places in our state where you may not see another person. The next time you need to go for a nice, relaxing drive in the country, check out the Sherman Pass Scenic Byway on State Route 20.

State Route 20 takes you through the beautiful Colville National Forest.

The 35-mile trek takes you from Republic to Kettle Falls.

This is Washington's highest mountain pass.

Needless to say, this pass is rarely busy.

The Kettle Mountain Range offers solitude and stunning scenery.

When you drive down this road, you'll experience a very unique part of Washington.

It's where the Inland Empire meets the Northern Rocky Mountains and the beauty of the British Columbia border.

Sometimes you just need to be a million miles away from it all (or at least feel that way).

Sherman Pass is definitely one of our most beautiful and secluded byways, but it's far from our only scenic drive. Make it a goal to see as many Washington scenic byways as you can - they're worth it.
