Sawdust Hill Alpaca Farm In Washington Makes For A Fun Family Day Trip

Sawdust Hill Alpaca Farm in Poulsbo, Washington offers delightful alpaca tours and a farm store with handmade items.

It's practically impossible to be in a bad mood when you're surrounded by adorable alpacas. Not only are they fairly easygoing and pleasant creatures, but they also slightly resemble cartoon characters. If you could use a little break from reality right now, schedule yourself a tour of Sawdust Hill Alpaca Farm and prepare to be smitten.

Sawdust Hill Alpaca Farm is located on the outskirts of Poulsbo, Washington's little Norway.

Poulsbo is an extremely pleasant place, so spending some time in town before coming to the farm would make for a pretty perfect day.

The farm is family owned and operated, and the alpacas have great lives.

It started out as a small herd, but now running the farm is owner Steve's full-time job.

Alpacas are social creatures, and they prefer to live in a group.

And these beauties have 15 acres of land where they can roam free.

Alpacas tend to live between 15 and 25 years, so they can be part of the family for quite awhile.

Sawdust Hill's first alpaca, the always pleasant Maynard, just recently passed away.

When you visit the farm you can purchase some farm fresh eggs from the chickens or check out the fantastic onsite farm store.

The store sells everything from handmade items to raw fibers and yarns.

Full farm tours are by reservation only and run from Friday - Sunday.

Private farm tours cost $60 for up to four people and will allow you plenty of up-close-and-personal alpaca time.

You can also stop by daily at 11:15 a.m. for a barn feeding tour, which costs $5 per person.

These four-legged friends will be happy to see you.
