The Tiny Norwegian Town In Washington That’s The Perfect Day Trip Destination

Poulsbo, Washington, known as "Little Norway," offers a charming day trip with its rich Norwegian heritage, maritime museum, arts district, and delightful local bakery.

The Kitsap Peninsula is a quiet, peaceful oasis located in between King County and the Olympic Peninsula, surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty and outdoor recreation. And while it isn't feasible for all Washingtonians to drive there and back home in a day, if you live on the west side of the state, you could easily make a day trip to Poulsbo, Washington. Known locally as Washington's Little Norway, it's a pretty delightful town -- and it's a downright pleasant place to spend an afternoon.

Poulsbo is a little fishing town on Liberty Bay in North Kitsap County.

Its nickname, Little Norway, originated from the many Norwegian Americans who settled there in the late 1800s.

Poulsbo still has quite a few Norwegian immigrants and their descendants, and there are touches of Norway reflected all over town.

When you visit, check out the Poulsbo Maritime Museum, which is open daily from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The museum showcases the rich maritime history of Poulsbo, and it's a great way to learn a lot about the area in a short amount of time.

Downtown Poulsbo has an abundance of shops, boutiques, and art galleries locals and visitors alike tend to love.

The town has a growing Arts District you can find by strolling down Front Street. When you're craving the feeling of a small town in Washington, this street will make you smile.
