This Summer Day Trip Will Remind You That Washington Is The Best Place On The Planet

Explore Washington's summer charm with a day trip featuring outdoor dining, local produce, and scenic views.

While we can all appreciate the fact that we get to experience all four seasons here in Washington, the vast majority of us eagerly anticipate summer long after our school days are over. And since we also don't get those lengthy summer breaks we did in school, taking long vacations isn't always easy.

But a day trip is something anyone can do, and this is just one example of a short and sweet itinerary that will remind you of how incredible our state truly is.

Start your morning by treating yourself to the most important meal of the day, preferably on a patio since outdoor dining season has finally arrived.

This is the Early Bird Cafe in Ellensburg's outdoor seating area.

Located at 108 S Water Street, the Early Bird Cafe serves some of the best breakfast in the city.

And since Ellensburg is in the middle of Washington, it makes sense to start here.

Next, head to one of our famous produce stands and stock up on some delicious seasonal fruits and veggies.

This is the Thorp Fruit & Antique Mall, but you'll find plenty of other options in this part of the state as well.

Once you've had a great meal and scored some deals on local produce, head to our beautiful Bavarian village, Leavenworth.

Leavenworth is amazing in any season, but in the summertime, it's simply magical.

The beauty of mountains and nature on a clear, sunny day is unforgettable.

When you're not checking out the downtown shops or feasting on schnitzel, check out the nearby Lake Wenatchee State Park.

Before you head home, don't forget to treat yourself to something from Das Sweet Shoppe...

... because every summer day trip should include delicious ice cream.

Sometimes a day trip is all you need to feel refreshed and rejuvenated. Here are some other great cities to explore this summer.
