The Small Town Lake In Vermont That’s An Idyllic Summer Day Trip

Enjoy a summer day trip to Lake Carmi in Franklin, Vermont, for kayaking, swimming, fishing, and hiking.

On a hot day, head to Franklin, Vermont for some relaxing fun in the sun on Lake Carmi. Situated along the Canadian border, Franklin spans about 40 miles and has under 2,000 residents. Lake Carmi, the fourth largest lake in the state, is located in the eastern part of Franklin, and the entrance to the state park is on the southeast side of the lake. We suggest heading to this part of Vermont for a summer day trip!

To get started on your day trip to Lake Carmi in Franklin, you'll need to drive about an hour north on I-89 if you're coming from Burlington.

Although the lake is approximately 20 feet deep, it spans nearly 1,500 acres.

The best place to get started on your day of play is Carmi Lake State Park.

In addition to being a day-use park, there are camping sites available to rent if you decide to stay in the area longer.

When you go to the Vermont small-town lake, you'll be able to kayak, swim, fish, and explore!
