If you're planning to be in the southern part of the state, take a day trip along the Molly Stark Scenic Byway. This 48-mile route, which is a part of Route 9 and runs from Brattleboro to Bennington, is an ideal destination to take in stunning scenery and visit quintessential New England towns. If you're eager to explore, read on to learn more about the quaint towns along this scenic road trip in southern Vermont.

The Molly Stark Byway is just under 50 miles and goes through many charming towns and points of interest. Read on for some of our favorite towns along the way...

1. Brattleboro

Start your tour along the Molly Stark Byway in Brattleboro. Depending on your schedule, you can browse shops in the downtown area, check out the views along the Connecticut River, or go for a hike overlooking views of New Hampshire.

2. Marlboro

Make Marlboro your next step on this road trip. In addition to being home to Marlboro College, you'll get to see The Colonel Williams Inn and the Marlboro Meeting House Congregational Church.

3. Wilmington

With a population of around 2,000, Wilmington is the perfect spot along your road trip to take photos of the foliage and points of interest like the Historic Lyman House in town.

4. Searsburg

Although Searsburg is one of the smallest towns along the Molly Stark Byway, make sure to check out the wind power plant in the area.

5. Bennington

Once you drive into Bennington and reach the end of the Molly Stark Byway, you'll still have plenty to do an explore. If you're into history, check out the Bennington Battle Monument. And, if you enjoy quirky art, keep an eye out for the moose scattered throughout the town.
