The Small Town in Utah That Comes Alive in the Fall Season
When autumn's colors arrive, it's almost impossible to stay indoors in this Utah town.
Some of my favorite towns to visit during the fall season include Garden City, Eden, and Midway. But, there is one town in Utah County that is often overlooked but easily tops the list—Alpine. This charming town in Utah County is actually one of the most beautiful towns in the Beehive State, and when autumn arrives, it comes alive with vibrant colors. In fact, it’s so beautiful that it is impossible to stay indoors.
Alpine is located in northeastern Utah County and sits near the foothills of American Fork Canyon. It is one town that is experiencing significant growth, and today, more than 10,500 people call it home. Alpine is well known for its many city parks, including Legacy Park, Burgess Park, and Moyle Park. During the fall, when the weather starts to cool, these parks are not only beautiful but are the perfect place for a picnic, a ball game, or even for an evening stroll.
Of course, no trip to Alpine in the autumn months is complete unless you take a drive on the Alpine Loop.
This two-hour scenic drive is one of the best ways to experience the fall colors in Utah and is where you can experience the most splendid reds, golds, and yellows. Seriously, you won’t want to forget a camera—this drive is breathtaking!
You can also pay a visit to Timpanogos Cave National Monument. During the autumn months, the crowds are small and the views are stunning. Keep in mind, however, that cave tours are only available until early October.
Just a short drive from Alpine are several hiking trails that will completely immerse you in fall foliage and gorgeous views. It’s a great way to spend time outside before the snow and chilly temperatures arrive. One of my personal favorite hikes is the Tibble Fork Loop Trail. This is a 4.2-mile loop trail that is quite challenging, but if you hike when fall foliage is at its peak, it’s pure bliss.
And before you leave town, make sure you stop by Burgess Orchards on Bateman Lane. During the fall, stop by and pick fresh apples right off the tree. I also recommend purchasing some fresh peaches during your visit. There's nothing like fresh, local produce to put you in the autumn spirit.
There really is something magical about Alpine and the surrounding area when autumn arrives. It may be the beautiful weather, the fabulous fall activities, or the colorful foliage. Either way, this Utah town comes alive this time of the year, and we love it.
