The Tiny Town Near Dallas – Fort Worth With The Most Scrumdiddilyumptious Restaurants

If you haven't visited the quaint town of Decatur then you're overdue for a delightful day!Decatur boasts of a "Pink Lady" and bears the slogan of "Eighter from Decatur"— The Pink Lady refers to the majestic Wise County Courthouse on the square made of Texas pink granite and the slogan comes from a turn-of-the-century story about a craps shooter who would say, "Ada from Decatur, county seat of Wise" before rolling his dice. That's all well and good, but you should REALLY come visit this small town for its Southern-style home cooking!

Decatur is located about 40 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

The town's charm, shops, and history makes it a great day trip, but it's the restaurants that people really rave about here.

1. Sweetie Pie's Ribeyes - 201 W. Main St.

Of course, ribeyes are a crowd favorite, but all the selections remind you of a home cooked meal at Grandma's house.

As hard as it may be, save some room for a slice of red velvet pie. You'll understand why after the first bite!

2. Rooster's Roadhouse - 106 N. Trinity St.

Locals swear by pretty much everything on the menu, but the homemade potato chips and complimentary salted peanuts in the shell just make the experience complete! This cheesesteak sandwich is a popular item here.

3. Bono's Chop House & Saloon - 2025 N. U.S. Hwy. 287

Bono's is known for making Southern favorites unique with added culinary twists. Loaded Chicken Fried Steak Baked Potato, anyone?

4. Catfish O'harlie's - 1019 N. Highway 287

O'harlie's doesn't mess with classic Southern favorites and serves up fried catfish that regulars absolutely rave over.

5. Casa Torres - 2708 S. Farm 51

This Mexican food restaurant provides classic favorites served with some great salsa!

6. Leeper Creek Bar-B-Que - 3152 N. Highway 287

This restaurant makes sure you don't leave the table hungry, with Texas-sized portions of outstanding meats and sides.

7. Main Street Home and Gardens - 603 W. Main St.

From its "home and garden" style to the fresh salads stacked with beloved ingredients, it is truly a place you'll return to again and again.

8. Little Frilly's Tex-Mex - 1816 S. FM 51 Suite 900

This Tex-Mex strip-center restaurant serves up a lot of fresh fish and some different offerings that have attracted a regular crowd.

9. Sweetwater Café & Bakery - 112 W. Walnut St.

Their soup and sandwich combinations are perfect for lighter dining and cooler days.

The desserts here are absolutely heavenly! The hardest part is making a selection.
