There are a great many scenic drives in Texas to choose from. Whether you prefer driving over mountains or through vibrant wildflower fields, there is a route for just about everyone. One of my favorites is the "Twisted Sisters," a 100-mile drive that spans three ranch roads in the beautiful Hill Country. The views are gorgeous (and it has lots of hairpin turns to please the daredevil in all of us), plus it passes right by the charming small town of Rocksprings, which boasts a rich history, a bat-filled sinkhole, and perhaps the quaintest hotel you've ever seen.

If you love scenic drives in Texas, just wait until you experience the Twisted Sisters. Most popular among motorcyclists (but also beloved by car drivers!), this 100-mile loop meanders through the beautiful Texas Hill Country, snaking through rugged canyons blanketed in lush greenery.

With over 200 curves from start to finish (hence the name "Twisted," it's also among the most dangerous roads in Texas - but don't let that deter you. The views are absolutely gorgeous, and as long as you're paying close attention, you shouldn't have any problems.

The route encompasses three secluded ranch roads: Ranch Road 335, Ranch Road 336, and Ranch Road 337.

For this reason, it is also known as "The Three Sisters."

You'll have the opportunity to drive through one of the most beautiful stretches of the region, and your jaw will drop at every turn.

A quick westward detour off Ranch Road 335 will lead you to Rocksprings, a charming small town with a population of just under 900.

The county seat of Edwards County, the town has an incredibly rich history and is full of old buildings like the Edwards County Courthouse, shown here.

While you're in Rocksprings, you simply must check out Devil's Sinkhole State Natural Area.

Located just about eight miles outside of town, this gorgeous natural wonder is home to roughly three-million Mexican free-tailed bats, and you can watch them emerge each night from late spring through early fall.

Looking for a place to set up camp for the night before getting back on the road? The Historic Rocksprings Hotel is your home away from home.

This cozy inn dates back over 100 years and offers over a dozen accommodations with old-fashioned (but still incredible comfortable and oh-so-charming) décor and furnishings.

Guests also have access to several common areas including a kitchen, an outdoor cooking area, two dining rooms, and upper and lower verandas.
