10. Spend a day at the Tennessee Safari Park.

Did you know you could go on a safari here in Tennessee?! The Tennessee Safari Park is located in Alamo, and you can pet and feed over eighty species of animals. Looking to say hey to a zebra? Done. An antelope? Of course!

9. Sewanee is a beautiful hidden gem.

Sewanee is home to the University of the South, and has multiple trails and natural vistas that keep it on par as one of the most beautiful places in the state. At roughly two hours from Nashville, Sewanee feels like an oasis of its own. Come if you love the natural beauty of the Volunteer State!

8. Have you ever visited the Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park...?

East Tennessee gets all the attention when it comes to natural beauty, but the west side comes in strong with Meeman-Shelby. Walk the Woodland Trail, which makes it easy to make a one to four mile loop, and the summer rangers lead nature hikes and every so often a canoe trip through the cypress swamps.

7. The Ghost River is an eerie, (affordable!) experience.

A cypress forest has the edge of an eerie folk tale and the lilt of fantasy, and LaGrange, Tennessee makes it easy to explore. The Ghost River section of the Wolf River is just to the east of Moscow, and there are fourteen miles perfect for paddling. Rent a canoe or a kayak and spend the day on the water.

6. Evins Mill makes for a beautiful day trip.

Evins Mill is a historic spot located in the gorgeous, secluded Smithville, Tennessee. You can stay on the property, or you can visit their on-site waterfall, Carmac Falls. There are quite a few weddings hosted over the weekends, but we'd recommend it for a romantic trip with your significant other.

5. Drive or wander the trails of the historic Natchez-Trace.

The historic Natchez-Trace stretches through multiple states and has some of the most beautiful views in Tennessee. We'd recommend the trip with a cup of coffee in hand and country music on the radio, but that's just us. It's truly a summertime experience.

You can access Laurel Falls via the popular Laurel Falls Trail, and we'd recommend going during the week or the very beginning and end of summer. It can get busy, and you'll want a bit of peace and quiet during your hike.
