Tennesse State Prison - Nashville

Built in 1898 and left to the ravages of time in 1992, the Tennessee State Prison is a gorgeous structure on the west side of town that exudes the brilliant horrors of the past. It was once the home to Old Sparky, the state electric chair...

There are very few folks who have actually been able to gain access, as you have to request a permit from the city. If, however, you don't want to go through the hassle? Then you can make a drive of it, and take in the stunning spot from the road.

Minister's Treehouse - Crossville

Editor's note: Minister's Treehouse is no longer standing, but fortunately, its legacy lives on through photos and videos. This unique place was built out of divine inspiration, and at one point, was known as the largest treehouse in the world!

Elkmont - Great Smoky Mountain National Park

The Wonderland Hotel and Historic Elkmont cottages have long since been abandoned, although there are almost twenty structures that have been deemed necessary to save.

For now, it's a creepy piece of the past that just can't seem to let go. In 1994, some were even put on the National Register of Historic Places, making the situation even more heated.

Higdon Hotel - Reliance

Built in 1890 and open until 1920, the darling Higdon Hotel was then left to the ravenous maw of the forest. It's now a beautiful bit of what once was in the past.

The Dotson School - Grainger County

Located in Grainger County, the school has been used for hay storage and other agricultural uses, but it's still in fairly good condition. You'll find this relic of the past near Puncheon Creek Road. When you catch a glimpse of it, you'll feel like you're in another era.
