Are you looking for a fabulous autumn getaway? Head to Spearfish, where you'll find some of the state's best fall foliage and plenty of recreation opportunities.
If you're looking for the perfect fall getaway, hop in your car and head to Spearfish. Located in the far northern portion of the Black Hills National Forest, it's full of fall splendor right now.
Spearfish is home to around 11,000 people, which means that it's small enough to have a quaint, small-town feeling, but large enough to offer plenty of restaurants, shops and entertainment.
Spearfish Canyon is incomparable when the leaves turn. The entire canyon lights up in deep orange, yellow and red colors.
Roughlock Falls is gorgeous during autumn months.
You'll find Spearfish Falls right behind the Latchstring Restaurant.
You'll want to check out Bridal Veil Falls, too. Plan on spending some serious time in Spearfish Canyon. The tourists are mostly gone, and you'll find peace and quiet in the mountains here, while being surrounded by the natural beauty of autumn.
Don't miss Harvest Fest on Saturday, September 23rd.
This family-friendly festival is held right downtown and offers tons of free entertainment, kids activities and plenty of food, local crafts and art.
When you get to town, visit the Tourist Information Center to learn about more happenings around town.
It's located at 603 N. Main Street in Spearfish.
