Caputa Alpaca Farm In South Dakota Makes For A Fun Family Day Trip
Caputa Alpaca Farm in South Dakota offers a unique, family-friendly experience with over 100 alpacas and additional amenities like a campground and guest ranch.
Do you love animals and enjoy visiting farms, zoos, and other various animal sanctuaries? Are you looking to save a little money while enjoying the Mount Rushmore State? Maybe you are just looking for a new family tradition? If you answered yes to any (or all) of the above, you are going to love South Dakota's unique Caputa Alpaca Farm:
Located near Rapid City in the small town of Caputa is the aptly named Caputa Alpaca Farm, which is billed as being western SoDak's only alpaca farm!
Home to 100+ adorable alpacas, Caputa Alpacas is a family-owned-and-operated farm that is both open year-round and free to the public.
While everything at the farm may seem completely carefree, owners Glenn and Debbie Lepp have experienced a significant amount of heartache while running Caputa Alpaca, thanks to a destructive fire that destroyed their on-property home and parts of the property.
Despite the devastation from the fire, the Lepps managed to rebuild and even re-opened the farm in 2017.
When you visit today, you will have a chance not only to meet the inspiring couple behind the farm but the animals themselves, which visitors may also feed, pet, and play with.
Keep your eyes peeled, because you never know who (or what!) you will see at Caputa Alpacas!
Do you need another reason to visit? Caputa Alpacas also offers both a campground and guest ranch, which can be booked by calling (605) 415 1879.
Caputa Alpacas is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
