Named One Of The Most Beautiful Small Towns In Rhode Island, Take A Closer Look At Westerly

We might be a bit biased, but it's safe to say there's truly no ugly part of Rhode Island. Every inch of rugged territory, city, and small town in the Ocean State is eye-catching. Recently, The Culture Trip named Rhode Island's most beautiful small towns -- and while the list wasn't meant to be in a particular order, we weren't surprised to see Westerly on it. We think this delightful little tourist town deserves to be number one. Do you agree?

Westerly is located on the southwestern shoreline of Washington County, about 40 miles from Newport.

It's named Westerly because it's Rhode Island's westernmost town. And while that admittedly isn't very glamorous, the town itself is incredibly charming.

Westerly is a quintessential New England town, and it's a popular tourist destination in the summertime.

Equally as quaint as it is vibrant, it's no wonder so many New Englanders love it.

For a relatively small town (the population is around 23,000), there are quite a few amenities here.

Wilcox Park is stunning, and the arboretum is colorful and well-kept.

When the weather permits, Westerly is a great place for outdoor recreation.

And sometimes that outdoor recreation is simply a post-dinner seaside stroll.

Between the sandy beaches, boating, fishing, golfing, sailing, swimming, shopping, and dining, there's truly something for everyone here...

... and both the sunrises and sunsets are absolutely amazing.

Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and you may have a different opinion of the Rhode Island town that has earned this honor.

That being said, Westerly does double its population in the summertime, so it's safe to say many Rhode Islanders appreciate its beauty.
