Why Everyone In Rhode Island Should Visit This One Tiny Town
In many ways Rhode Island feels like one big small town in its entirety. Not only can you drive from one end to the other in about an hour, we also have less than 40 cities and towns. While each of our tiny towns have something unique to offer, some stand out a little more than the others. There's one place in particular that most locals would agree simply needs to be visited at least once.
New Shoreham is not only the smallest town in the smallest state, it's also one of the most beautiful.
Covering the entire area of Block Island, this island town possesses several one of a kind natural wonders, as well as a fantastic local culture.
According to the 2010 census, the year round population consists of just 1,051 people. Though the island welcomes thousands of tourists in the summer months, it never loses its small town charm.
Among the natural wonders found on the island are the amazing 150 foot tall Mohegan Bluffs, a nature preserve, stunning beaches, hiking trails, and so much more.
Two historic lighthouses; North and Southeast Lights are lovely sites to visit and create a quintessential New England image.
New Shoreham is also home to world class resorts, amazing restaurants, a wildly popular donut shop, and so many other wonderful attractions.
Though most popular in warmer weather, the town throws special events throughout the year including winter shopping excursions, clambakes, and festivals.
