Why This One Little Town Is Rhode Island’s Best Kept Secret
Though Rhode Island might not have many towns to be kept a secret, many of the state's municipalities are often overshadowed by the popular beach towns. Somehow a few gems remain a little less disrupted by tourists. This town, though definitely a popular place in the summer, still remains a relative secret in comparison to places like Newport and Narragansett.
Found along the Connecticut border on the southwestern shoreline of Washington County is the stunning town of Westerly.
Westerly is home to some of the state's most breathtaking beaches. Just take a look at this lovely scene at Misquamicut as proof!
The town is also home to Napatree Point, a 1.5 mile long peninsula that is any beach lovers dream!
Visiting Westerly also offers wonderful views of the Pacatuck River along the western border.
Other nature sites and hiking trails abound throughout the town which often cross the Connecticut border.
The town's downtown area is a also a perfectly charming place to visit with delightful small cafes, shops, and more.
