Rhode Island is the smallest state. It is so small that you could walk across it in three to five days. You can drive literally anywhere on one tank of gas. You could even drive all the way across several of the New England states on that same tank of gas. You could even visit every single Dunkin' Donuts on Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence, notorious for its terrible traffic, and STILL have at least a quarter of a tank left. We are so spoiled here that we think that driving more than 15 minutes is excessive and pack a lunch to drive just a single county away. For this reason, a shocking number of Rhode Islanders do not even know that some of these amazing destinations even exist. Pack a lunch and read more below.
1. Beavertail State Park, Jamestown
Beavertail State Park in Jamestown, Rhode Island is not just a lighthouse, the ocean, and some cliffs. It is the most beautiful place in the entire state. Somehow, some Rhode Island residents don't make it to this ocean paradise until the age of 30.

2. Slater Mill, Pawtucket
Every true Rhode Islander has been to Slater Mill, likely on a field trip in the third grade. Maybe someone living all the way near Misquamicut Beach has gotten away with a lifetime of avoiding this luxury, but I highly doubt it. It is a true pillar of Rhode Island heritage. 67 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, Rhode Island
3. Pronk, Providence
It is remarkable how many festivals are planned in one weekend in a state that is only 48 miles from North to South. On Columbus Day Weekend you can visit Autumnfest in Woonsocket, The Narragansett Oktoberfest, The Scituate Arts Festival, Federal Hill's Columbus Day Weekend Festival, The Westerly-Pawcatuck Columbus Day Parade, The Rogue Island Comedy Festival, Pronk (pictured), and probably more. Luckily we are teeny tiny and you can visit all of these without refilling your tank.
4. Los Andes, Providence
If you are from around here, you probably know exactly how to order your hot wieners and you've probably also done the Awful Awful challenge at Newport Creamery, but it would be unsurprising to find out that you have no idea that one of the best restaurants in the country is on Chalkstone Avenue in Providence - IN PLAIN SIGHT! When you finally decide to discover this glorious restaurant, don't forget to make a reservation. Every tourist has already discovered it.

5. The Magdalenae Room, Providence
Speaking of really awesome places that you don't know about in Providence, this one at least has an excuse for being a secret. It's hidden. Good luck finding this super fancy wine bar.
122 Fountain Street, Providence, Rhode Island
6. Museum of Natural History and Cormack Planetarium, Providence
This planetarium is located in Roger Williams Park. Every Rhode Islander has been to the Roger Williams Park Zoo, but not so many know that this super interesting building even exists! 1000 Elmwood Avenue, Providence, Rhode Island
7. La Sallette Shrine Christmas Lighting
Just kidding. This one is actually in Attleboro, Massachusetts, but we in Rhode Island consider this event our own. Thousands of cars with Ocean State license plates will wait in two hours of traffic on Park Street to see them light up 300,000 lights every year. It is well worth the gas that you use to see this spectacular sight. 947 Park Street, Attleboro, Massachusetts
Have you visited all of the places on this list? It's shocking to find out that so many secret places exist in this tiny state. Continue reading to find out more secret restaurants in Rhode Island that are definitely worth finding.
