Oregon's towns are as diverse as its landscape. You'll find a 100-year-old rodeo in Pendleton, and a history that goes back to 1811 in Astoria. Some towns have beaches; others have fresh mountain air or acres of vineyards. Recently, the site Big 7 Travel named the most charming small town in every state, and we can't agree more with their choice for Oregon. Check out the pretty little town of Jacksonville:
You'll find the quaint little town of Jacksonville just west of Medford. Founded in 1851, it was one of Oregon's first gold-mining towns. Today, it's home to around 3,000 residents.
There's a lot of history in this little town. Take a walk through downtown to see some of the historic buildings. Stop in at Beekman House Museum, and consider taking a haunted history tour.

The town's cemetery has gravestones that date back more than 100 years, and you'll enjoy some nice views of town from atop the hill here, too.
Jacksonville has plenty of quaint shops and restaurants...
...and you'll definitely want to check out some of the wineries in the area. Pictured is Red Lily Vineyards, where you can enjoy a stroll and wine tasting.
Visit Lavender Fields Forever to explore seven different varieties of fragrant lavender. Bring a picnic lunch along, and consider taking a workshop or tour while you're here.
There are several charming inns and B&Bs in town, so you'll definitely want to make your trip an overnight stay.
Jacksonville is a little gem that has a lot to offer. Explore its history, agriculture, and outdoor recreation, and make plans to come back again soon.
