This Holiday-Themed Road Trip Will Lead You To Oregon’s Most Magical Gingerbread Houses

Christmastime in Oregon is downright magical. From twinkling lights and festive carollers to unique Santa sightings, the Beaver State really gets into the holiday spirit. One of the best ways to experience some holiday magic this year is by gathering up your family and embarking on our Gingerbread House Road Trip. If your idea of a gingerbread house involves broken graham crackers glued together with frosting, boy are you in for a treat!

1. The Benson Hotel (Portland)

For 46 years the Benson Hotel has been delighting visitors with their extravagant gingerbread displays. This festive celebration is one of the most beloved holiday pastimes in the Portland area. This year, the Lichtenstein Castle will be displayed in the main lobby. The event is free and runs through December 27.

2. OMSI Gingerbread Adventures (Portland)

While you're in Portland, you won't want to miss checking out OMSI's Gingerbread Adventures. This incredible (and tasty) event features a wide range of fun gingerbread-themed activities the whole family will enjoy. There will also be elaborate gingerbread designs on display, including a scene from the movie Elf and an entire gingerbread city. You can even vote for your favorite! Gingerbread Adventures is on now until January 1.

3. Mini Gingerbread House Decorating at Cornelius Public Library (Cornelius)

Run, run as fast as you can to the Cornelius Public Library for their Mini Gingerbread House Decorating Party. The library will have all the supplies you'll need to create your very own edible masterpiece. This event is scheduled for Thursday, December 21 at 3:00 p.m.

4. The Gingerbread House (Mehama)

No Oregon Gingerbread Road Trip is complete without a stop at The Gingerbread House Restaurant. This classic eatery serves delicious desserts and unique eats. You can chow down on an elk, venison, duck or bison burger while you're here.

Or, sample one of their famous gingerbread desserts.

5. Sunriver Resort Gingerbread Junction (Sunriver)

Sunriver Resort's annual Gingerbread Junction is the perfect place to feast with your eyes on some spectacular gingerbread houses. The marvellous cookie and candy creations are on display in the Abbot Room from now through January 1. The event is free and open to the public.
