10 Amazing Places You Can Go On One Tank Of Gas From Portland
One of the greatest things about living Portland (there are many) is that we are so close to the Pacific Ocean while also being close to the tallest mountain in the whole state. If you ever need a day to escape the city, there are quite a few gorgeous and rewarding places to venture to. Here is a list of some of the most amazing places to go on one tank of gas:
1. Bend
Climb Mt. Bachelor or float the river in Riverbend park in Bend, Oregon, which is only 163 miles southeast of Portland. I mean, look at the view!
2. Corvallis
Coined as the actual Beaver town in Oregon, Corvallis is an adorable College town with a fun nightlife and miles of farmland. It's only 84 miles away!
3. Timothy Lake
Get your paddle on at the extraordinary Timothy Lake. Only 77 miles out of Portland, this vast body of water provides serenity and prime fishing.
4. Florence
Explore the the dunes while riding a dune buggy or say hi to the sea otters in North America's largest sea cave in Florence, Oregon. It's a little bit of a road trip at about 172 miles, but it is beyond worth it.
5. Eugene
Eugene, Oregon is known for being one of the best college towns in the country, representing Oregon Ducks. If you can't catch one of their football games, the city of Eugene is also lovely all on its own.
6. Seaside
The ideal beach town for an Oceanside getaway. With classic arcades, delicious clam chowder, and tasty salt water, Seaside is perfect for the whole family (and only 79 miles west of the city).
7. Hood River
Or you can cheers to Mt. Hood from ground level in one of the many delicious breweries in Hood River, which is about 65 miles away from the city.

About 67 miles away from Portland is the tallest peak in all of Oregon. During the colder months, you have to come here for excellent snowy activities!

If you're lucky enough to get terrific gas mileage (roughly 230 miles), it would be wise to make a trek to Crater Lake. With its spectacular vastness and its unbelievable horizon, you'll never see anything like it ever again.
10. Willamette Valley
Walk the vineyards in Oregon's wine mecca in Willamette Valley, which is home to over 500 wineries. Luckily it's only 50 miles away from Portland.
