iFLY is an indoor skydiving venue in Oklahoma City.
It’s the one and only spot to try indoor skydiving in the state. So what is indoor skydiving? It’s basically a huge, vertical wind tunnel that lifts you up into the air, simulating the experience of falling from the sky while keeping you a safe distance from the ground. You don’t have to be an athlete to do this – everyone from kids to people with some mobility problems can try indoor skydiving.
Here’s what actually happens in the wind tunnel.
Before you embark on your "skydiving" adventure, you’ll be decked out in a jumpsuit, helmet, goggles, and earplugs. An instructor will take you through the process and teaching you the best positions to use inside the tunnel. You can expect to be in the wind tunnel for two to six minutes as a beginner, though you can schedule longer flights as you get more experienced. Keep in mind that five minutes afloat n the wind tunnel feels like 15 on the ground!
The cost varies, and there are some restrictions on who can fly.
All fliers must be at least three years old and under 300 pounds. If you wish to fly and are over 260 pounds, you need to contact the facility beforehand. Pregnant women and people with previous shoulder dislocations should not use the wind tunnel.
The cost of flying varies. First time experiences range from two flights for one person for $60 to four flights for one person for $100. Each flight is actually longer than a real skydiving free-fall from 12,000 feet, so it’s definitely worth it. You can also book group experiences and buy photos and videos of you flight from the venue.
You can find iFLY at 13600 Pawnee Drive, Oklahoma City, OK. Visit their website for booking information and opening hours. For more of the best activities in Oklahoma, check out some of our favorites here.
