You’d Never Know The Best Indian Food In Oklahoma Was Hiding In The Small Town Of Okemah
It's hard to believe some of the best Indian food in Oklahoma is tucked away in a convenience store in the small town of Okemah. Punjami Restaurant is located inside King's Travel Plaza and offers authentic Indian food that will send your taste buds into a frenzy. The food is delicious, and the customer service is superb but there is no atmosphere at this place, it only offers take-out.
Punjami Restaurant is located inside King's Travel Plaza at 11249 State Highway 56 in Okemah. Wondering where Okemah is? It's about 20 miles west of Henryetta just off I-40.
Upon arriving at the front door, you'll see the advertisement outside for Punjami Restaurant and some of its menu offerings.
The food is all traditional Indian food that is bursting with flavor. The dishes have all your favorite spices which include coriander, cumin, and turmeric.
They don't have a website or social media presence so getting photos of the inside of this place is not the easiest. We were able to find this picture of the counter and menu. You'll order your food at the counter and it will be prepared in to-go containers.
This little gem serves Halal food, a type of Indian food. They have vegetarian and non-vegetarian appetizers and entrees. The chicken curry comes highly recommended and is served hot with white rice.
You can also find the freshest Naan that comes in plain or garlic flavors. Can anyone else eat this all day long?
Entrees can be ordered in two different sizes, 16 or 32ounce. The next time you're traveling through town and want fresh, quality food, be sure and stop at Punjami's...that is if you like Indian food.
