One of the towns in North Dakota that draws the most visitors each year only has a population of 112. That town, of course, is Medora, North Dakota. Though it's a tiny town in terms of size, the opportunities are endless there. There is just so much to do it's no wonder why it is so popular with tourists. If you haven't been there yet, you should visit at least once in your lifetime, and here's why:

Medora was founded in 1883 and has pretty much become the tourism capital of North Dakota.

Despite only having 112 residents, hundreds of people come through the town every year to see the sights.

Many old, historical buildings are here that have been converted into museums showcasing the history of the area and North Dakota.

The Cowboy Hall of Fame is also located here and is open for visitors. It showcases many notable names in wild west history.

The town was founded by a French nobleman named the Marquis de Mores, who named the town after his wife. His mansion, the Chateau de Mores, has been kept beautifully and is open for tours near Medora.

The other main reason people visit Medora is the absolutely breathtaking natural area surrounding it.

It is right on the edge of the South Unit of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota's only national park and an amazing place.

Camping, hiking, biking, hunting, and fishing are all huge here, and there are plenty of places to explore and see.

Other notable attractions is the Bully Pulpit Golf Course, which has international acclaim and is one of the most uniquely located courses.

And lastly, by far one of the most famous parts of Medora to end off a day of travel, is the Medora Musical, set with the real backdrop of the badlands.
